Vulnerability

Vulnerability is being open with people to the point that you are capable of or susceptible to being wounded or hurt.

As weird as this is going to sound, I hate being vulnerable. To me being vulnerable is a weakness. I feel like the view of vulnerability I have from past experiences has stayed with me. As I sit here writing this, I don’t want to post this, but I feel the need to so… enjoy!  Being vulnerable and opening up to people about where I have fallen short makes me feel like I failed. It makes me feel like people will look at me differently. I’ve learned and am continuing to learn that vulnerability is necessary because it keeps you accountable. Vulnerability keeps you at a human level and considering we are all humans (last I checked) we need to be on that level. We need to be willing to be transparent because, while it’s all well and good to be there for others,  there are times others need to know how they can help you. You have to be willing to tell them: “hey not so well, I’m struggling with this” or “greatthis happened today!” Vulnerability is not always bad or a weakness, and I’m learning that. By being vulnerable with others you may learn that something you are struggling with, they are struggling with as well!

The world is the one that tells us that being vulnerable is not okay… I mean if society doctors images in magazines to make people look perfect, that makes me question what other things are hidden… I mean even politically there really is no vulnerability. They say what we want to hear! If they really were vulnerable how would that change our views?

Even Jesus was vulnerable! When he was in the Garden of Gethsemane praying before he was betrayed, he was vulnerable. In Matthew 26:39 when he is praying in the Garden, he is vulnerable with God: “And He went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, ‘My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will.’”

Like I said earlier… vulnerability is not bad! My challenge for you as well as for me is to be more open and vulnerable with the people around you!

 God Bless,
He has made you beautiful!
